Meru University of Science and Technology, School of Engineering and Architecture participated in the Leadership Skills for Navigating Industry Seminar on Saturday 8th February 2025, at Golden Tulip Hotel, Wetlands Nairobi. The workshop brought together brilliant minds from academia and industry for a transformative day of knowledge-sharing, mentorship, and networking.
The Industry leaders engaged in insightful discussions, unpacking key leadership strategies, career growth pathways, and the critical transition from academia to industry. Participants actively connected with seasoned professionals through one-on-one mentorship sessions, gaining invaluable career guidance, industry insights, and practical strategies to navigate the evolving engineering landscape.
A key highlight is the address by Eng. Shammah Kiteme, CE, FIEK, PMPĀ®, IEK President, emphasized the importance of leadership in engineering, stressing that technical expertise alone is not enough. He challenged engineers to become visionaries, strong collaborators, and adaptable leaders in an ever-changing global landscape. This seminar was more than just a platform for discussion. It was a launch pad for the next generation of leaders, equipping them with the skills, connections, and inspiration to excel in their careers.
The university was represented by Dr. Lucas Mogaka (Dean, School of Engineering and Architecture), Dr Vitalis Too (Civil Engineering department Chairman), Mr. Job Kerosi (Chair of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department), Ms Rosemary matheka (Lecturer Civil Engineering department) and twenty students from the school.
